Introduction
The School of Mathematics and Statistics has three majors: Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Information and Computing Science, and Statistics. Mathematics and Applied Mathematics is a provincial-level comprehensive reform pilot major, Advanced Mathematics is a provincial-level excellent course, "Applied Mathematics" a provincial-level key discipline, and "Operations Research and Optimization" is a school-level key discipline. The "Applied Statistics Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center" is a school-level teaching demonstration center, and the Teaching and Research Affairs’ Office of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics is an excellent provincial-level basic teaching organization.
Faculty
The School has 49 full-time teachers, including 12 professors, 14 associate professors, 15 doctorates, 1 provincial distinguished professor, 2 with the honor of scientific and technological innovation talents in colleges and universities in Henan Province, and 4 with the title of young backbone teachers in Henan Province, 2 school-level excellent teachers and 5 master tutors.
Learning Outcome
Teachers
have a high level of scientific research ability and fruitful achievements in
production, education and research. They have presided and finished 3
national-level scientific research projects, more than 40 provincial-level
scientific research projects, and won 8 provincial-level scientific and
technological achievements awards, with a total funding of more than 3 million
yuan.
The School has achieved remarkable results in school-enterprise cooperation. It has established cooperation with more than ten enterprises including the Zhumadian Investigation Team of the National Bureau of Statistics, Ping An Insurance Company of China, Beijing Chinasoft International Education Technology Co., Ltd., and Huatuo Financial Digital Technology Group Co., Ltd. 15 off-campus internship training bases provide a reliable guarantee for improving students' practical ability.
In recent years, students of the School have won 10 national first and second prizes, and more than 100 provincial and ministerial first prizes in the National College Student Mathematical Contest in Modeling, the National College Student Mathematics Contest and the National College Student English Contest, ranking among the top universities of the same level in Henan province. 15 students were awarded national scholarships, and 50 were awarded the honor of Henan Province Three Good Students. The graduates have solid theory, strong practical ability, large development space and wide employment channels.
