Huanghuai University Animation Students’ Short Film Selected for the 7th “Youth Film” Section

From March 22nd to 25th, the 7th “Youth Film” National Youth Micro Film and Short Video Awards Ceremony and Theme Creation & Exchange Exhibition was held in Nantong, Jiangsu Province. The micro-film “Something’s Off”, created by the Si Jianqiang team from the Digital Media Arts program at Huanghuai University’s School of Animation, was successfully shortlisted in the college student category and nominated for the Best Sound award. This is another significant honor for the film, following its earlier selection for the micro-film section of the Beijing College Student Film Festival. The film’s instructor, Deng Jianghong, and student creators, Si Jianqiang and Zhang Guorong, were invited to participate in a series of on-site activities, including impromptu themed creation, exchange, and screening.

The 7th “Youth Film” Youth Micro Film and Short Video Collection and Exhibition is a significant platform showcasing the spirit and vitality of young people in the new era. Guided by the China Film Association and co-organized by the China Youth Daily and the Cyberspace Administration of China’s Central Network Film and Television Center, the event encompasses two collection categories: micro-films and short videos. It features diverse themes, including “Century’s Journey of Dream Pursuit”, “New Starting Point for Struggle” and “100 Reasons to Love My City”. After fierce competition, a total of 55 works were shortlisted nationwide, including 50 from university student groups, representing prestigious institutions such as Peking University, Communication University of China, and Beijing Film Academy, and 5 from middle school student groups.

For students of the School of Animation, participating in such an event is not only a test of their creative abilities and technical skills but also a valuable opportunity to showcase their work. Being shortlisted for the 7th “Youth Film” section signifies that their digital media productions have received recognition from experts and judges for their creativity, technical proficiency, and thematic expression. Furthermore, the shortlisted films will be showcased on multiple platforms, including the China Youth Daily client, China Youth Network, and the Xiang Xiang app.
