The Office of the Ministry of Education recently announced the results of the 2023 “Respecting Outstanding Traditional Chinese Culture” promotional and educational campaign. Fifteen works from universities in Henan Province were selected, including two submissions from Huanghuai University. “The Spirit of Zhugou”, a video project by Professor Guo Chao, was chosen for the “Red Homeland” video exhibition. Additionally, “Demonstration Class”, a painting by art and design student Liu Ke, was selected for the “Ink-Painting Campus” painting exhibition.

“The Spirit of Zhugou” vividly recreates the glorious history of Zhugou, the location of the Central China Bureau of the Communist Party of China and the Henan Provincial Committee during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, through extensive historical evidence. The work highly commends the significance of Zhugou’s revolutionary history in the annals of the Chinese Revolution and the history of the Communist Party of China. It provides a comprehensive exposition of the formation, essence, historical significance, and contemporary relevance of the Zhugou spirit, serving as a vital window into understanding Zhugou’s revolutionary history and its enduring spirit.

“Demonstration Class”, a Chinese painting created by student Liu Ke under the guidance of Professor Li Dongxu, depicts a classroom scene at Huanghuai University. The artwork portrays Professor Zhai Kaiwei from the School of Art and Design conducting a professional skills demonstration class for fine arts students.
