Researcher Pei Wansheng from the Chinese Academy of Sciences Delivers Academic Exchange at Huanghuai University

In a bid to further advance the development of key laboratories, ignite the research potential of faculty members, cultivate a vibrant research atmosphere, and promote the integration of teaching and research, the School of Architectural Engineering hosted Professor Pei Wansheng from the Chinese Academy of Sciences for an academic exchange on May 16th. The event, held in Conference Room 8101, Building 8, saw the participation of faculty representatives from relevant departments within the School. President Li Xiaoyan graced the occasion with his presence and delivered an inspiring address. Gao Gangling, Party Secretary of the School of Architectural Engineering, presided over the proceedings.

 

President Li Xiaoyan extended a warm welcome to Professor Pei Wansheng on behalf of the university. He then provided an overview of the university, highlighting its fundamental characteristics, distinctive educational approaches, achievements in disciplinary development, and contributions to local development. President Li expressed his hope that the School of Architectural Engineering would seize this exchange as an opportunity to deepen collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, jointly overcoming challenges in the construction of key laboratories. Furthermore, he encouraged the faculty to seek Professor Pei’s insights on issues related to discipline development and scientific research innovation, collectively propelling the high-quality advancement of the School’s endeavors.

 

Professor Pei expressed his high regard for the university’s achievements. Focusing on the key laboratory planned by the School, he provided specific and detailed guidance on research directions, content, and team building. He emphasized that the construction of high-level scientific research platforms should prioritize cutting-edge technologies and address major national strategic needs. He encouraged faculty members to actively participate in research projects, elevate their research capabilities, strengthen academic exchanges, and broaden their international perspectives.

 

Following the seminar, Professor Pei toured the laboratories of the School of Architectural Engineering and visited the Institute of Rural Planning and Design.

 

Dr. Pei Wansheng is a researcher and the Deputy Director of the Beiluhe Permafrost Engineering Safety National Field Scientific Observation and Research Station in Qinghai Province. He is a recipient of the prestigious National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars. He has published over 90 papers in SCI-indexed journals and holds 18 authorized domestic and international patents. His contributions have been recognized through numerous awards, including the First Prize of the Gansu Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, the President’s Excellent Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Young Scientist Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He also serves as an Executive Committee Member of the YESChina and a member of the Youth Editorial Board of the Journal of Glaciology and Geocryology.
