In a joint announcement, the Education Department of Henan Province, the Henan Department of Science and Technology, and the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Henan Province have approved the “Huanghuai University - Henan Puhui Power Battery Co., Ltd. High-Performance, High-Safety Power Battery R&D Center” as a Key Provincial School-Enterprise R&D Center (Notice No. Jiao Ke Ji [2024] No. 147). This collaborative effort, led by the School of Energy Engineering at Huanghuai University in partnership with Henan Puhui Power Battery Co., Ltd. has been awarded a special grant of 500,000 yuan.

The establishment of this joint R&D center represents a significant step towards realizing the “Innovation-Driven Development, Education and Science & Technology-Led Rejuvenation, and Workforce Development” strategies of Henan Province. It aligns with the focus on nurturing the “7+28+N” industrial clusters, driving the translation of scientific and technological achievements into practical applications, facilitating industrial transformation, and serving the economic and social development of the region. By leveraging the combined expertise and resources of both parties, the center has dedicated itself to battery research and development over the past five years. This collaboration has yielded innovative breakthroughs in several key areas: Development of three-layer co-extruded separator materials, Research on silicon-carbon anode materials, Development of novel sodium-ion batteries for large-scale energy storage, Technology development and application for integrated lithium-ion battery manufacturing and recycling. These advancements have resulted in five successful project grants, including funding from the Henan Province Central Government-Guided Local Science and Technology Development Special Project and the Henan Province Key Research and Development Plan. Additionally, the center’s work has been recognized with three Henan Province Science and Technology Progress Awards.

Huanghuai University has consistently placed a high priority on innovation within industry-academia partnerships and the translation of scientific and technological achievements into practical applications. This commitment is reflected in a series of incentive measures and the implementation of structured research initiatives. Through continuous exploration and practical application, the University has achieved significant results in talent cultivation, platform construction, regional integration, and technology transfer, culminating in a portfolio of high-quality outcomes stemming from the integration of industry and education. Looking ahead, Huanghuai University remains dedicated to aligning its efforts with regional development priorities, industry demands, and advancements in science and technology. The University will further intensify its focus on fostering robust industry-academia collaboration and integrating education with scientific research. This strategic direction aims to cultivate a mutually beneficial relationship between industry and academia, where the strengths of universities and enterprises complement each other, ultimately enhancing the University’s talent cultivation capabilities and its capacity to contribute to the economic and social development of the region.
