Huanghuai University Jointly-Trained Master’s Student Publishes Paper in International Journal

Jia Jing, a master’s student jointly supervised by Huanghuai University and Hubei Minzu University, recently published a paper titled “Parameter Estimation and Global Sensitivity Analysis of a Bacterial-Plasmid Model with Impulsive Drug Treatment” in the prestigious journal “Chaos, Solitons & Fractals.” The journal is ranked Q1 in the Chinese Academy of Sciences SCI Journal Partition and boasts an impact factor of 7.8 for 2024. Jing Jia is the first author, with Huanghuai University designated as the primary affiliation. Professor Zhao Zhong served as the primary supervisor for this research.

This research, supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Grant No: 12171193) under the project “Modeling and Research on Drug Administration Strategies Based on Bacterial Resistance Mutation Selection Window”, leverages clinical drug resistance data. By integrating methodologies from mathematics, statistics, data science, and numerical computation through a problem-driven modeling approach, the paper investigates the complex dynamics of bacterial mutation under the influence of resistance plasmids and antibiotic selection pressure. The study successfully identifies key parameters contributing to bacterial resistance, providing valuable theoretical guidance for clinical prevention and mitigation of drug resistance.

This achievement reflects the School of Mathematics and Statistics’ ongoing efforts to strengthen its master’s degree programs and enhance its research capabilities. In recent years, the School has prioritized joint training programs for graduate students, aligning with the university’s strategic goals. Significant investments have been made in establishing high-level research platforms and fostering collaborations with domestic and international universities and research institutions. These efforts have laid a solid foundation for cultivating the innovative capacity of jointly trained master’s students. The School has successfully collaborated with several institutions, including COMSATS University Islamabad in Pakistan, Xinyang Normal University, Hubei Minzu University, and Henan Normal University, to jointly train dozens of master’s students.
