Huanghuai University Taekwondo Team Excels at 18th Chinese College Students Taekwondo Championships

The 18th Chinese College Students Taekwondo Championships (South Division), hosted by the China Student Sports Federation, took place at Mingde Wangcheng High School in Changsha, Hunan Province, from May 19th to 24th. Over 2,500 athletes from 242 universities nationwide participated in the competition. Led by Wang Haihong, Vice Dean of the School of Physical Education, and coached by Ji Yayun and Wei Shuguang, a team of six athletes from the university competed in the event.

 

After five days of intense competition, the Huanghuai University Taekwondo team, making their debut at the championships, achieved outstanding results. They secured 4 silver medals, one fifth-place finish, and one seventh-place finish. The women’s team also earned second place overall in the Class C Group B category. Tian Yuru won silver in the women’s under 46kg category, while Zhang Linyuan took silver in the women’s under 53kg category. Ren Jiaming secured silver in the women’s Individual Tai Chi Six Forms, and Zhang Linyuan, Wei Lulu, and Ren Jiaming together won silver in the women’s Group Tai Chi Five Forms. Wang Zhengang achieved fifth place in the men’s under 80kg category and seventh place in the men’s Individual Tai Chi Five Forms. This remarkable performance marks a significant milestone in the development of sports at Huanghuai University.

This approach has led to the emergence of distinctive strengths in their educational offerings. They are dedicated to making greater contributions to the university’s overall pursuit of high-quality development.
