Four students from Huanghuai University, Kong Yifang, Xue Miaopu, Wang Jialei, and Zhu Gengxin, won third place in the 4th National English Vocabulary Competition “Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press · Word Master Cup” held recently.
This prestigious competition has engaged over 3.13 million students from more than 1,300 universities nationwide in the past four years. Widely recognized and embraced by both students and faculty, the “FLTRP · Word Master Cup” has garnered significant positive social impact. It is the only vocabulary competition featured in the “2024 National College Student Competition Analysis Report” published by the China Association of Higher Education. This year’s competition, spanning over two months, drew enthusiastic support from various organizations including regional organizing committees, provincial and municipal education societies, foreign language associations, and participating universities. Over 3,000 students from Huanghuai University joined their peers nationwide, competing across three divisions: non-English majors, English majors, and vocational college students. They faced off in a challenging yet rewarding journey of vocabulary mastery, progressing from campus rounds to provincial and ultimately the national finals. Each answer showcased a fusion of knowledge and speed, each step forward embodied a testament to their dedication and talent, and every participant exemplified the spirit of courage and perseverance.
The School of Foreign Languages at Huanghuai University actively embraces the Ministry of Education’s call for “New Liberal Arts” development, promoting reforms in public foreign language teaching and exploring diversified foreign language talent cultivation models. The “FLTRP · Word Master Cup” successfully ignited students’ passion for vocabulary acquisition, enhancing their self-directed learning capabilities. Moreover, it serves as a catalyst for advancing intelligent English language teaching methodologies, innovative assessment methods, and the integration of humanities with technology at the university.
