Foreign teachers and students experience Dragon Boat Festival

On June 22, on the occasion of the Dragon Boat Festival, the International Office and School of International Education jointly held a cultural experience activity for foreign teachers and students. They organized foreign teachers and students to make Dragon Boat Festival sachets and experience traditional Chinese festivals.

 

This event invited Wang Caihong, the inheritor of sachet making in Henan Province and a member of the Chinese Folk Artists Association, and the representative of Henan female red craftsmanship, to showcase the sewing cloth tigers and sachets. Twelve foreign teachers and students from the United States, Canada, Pakistan, Armenia, Nigeria, and Ethiopia participated. In the process of making cloth tigers and sachets, Wang Caihong introduced the historical origin of the custom of wearing sachets during the Dragon Boat Festival, and patiently explained the specific steps of making sachets and cloth tigers. Foreign teachers and students learned how to make needlework, colored silk, hanging beads and other tools and materials, hoping to send blessings to their friends and family through the production of cloth tigers and sachets.

 

Through this cultural experience, foreign teachers and students have a taste of the unique charm of the Dragon Boat Festival and stimulated everyones interest and enthusiasm for further understanding of Chinas outstanding traditional culture.
