THE 9^th NATIONAL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS MATHEMATICS COMPETITION-HENAN PROVINCE HELD IN HU UNIVERSITY

In the morning of November 11^th, after the application of the Henan Mathematical Society and the approval of the Chinese Mathematical Society, the 9^th National University Students Mathematics Competition-Henan Province was held in Huanghuai University. The participants include 541 contestants from 37 universities and colleges in Henan province.

Our university paid great attention to this competition, actively mobilized our students to join this contest, at the same time, actively coordinated and organized this event to ensure it going smoothly. During the competition, Shi Dongyang, the secretary of the Henan Mathematical Society, and five other experts inspected the contest and gave some guidance with Wang Bing, the deputy party secretary of HU.

The national college students mathematics competition has been held nine times since 2009. The contest content for the mathematics majored participants comprised Mathematical Analysis (50%), Advanced Algebra (35%), and Analytical Geometry (15%), which are from the basic teaching courses for the college students majored in mathematics. The content for other participants contained Function, Limit, Continuity, Calculus, Vector Algebra, Space Analytic Geometry, Infinite Series, etc., which are from the teaching content of advanced mathematics for undergraduates majoring in science and engineering. The aims of this contest were to enhance the students’ interest in learning mathematics, cultivate their ability to analyze and solve problems, discover and select mathematical innovative talents, and provide a stage for young students to demonstrate their basic knowledge and thinking ability. This event has become a high level college students discipline competition with the biggest national influence and largest number of participants.
